The boot scripts anatomy

From GoboLinux Knowledge Base

Jump to: navigation, search

The GoboLinux boot scripts can be divided in two parts: the first and the second, also known as Part One and Part Two. Except in ancient Rome, where they used to be called Part I and Part II. Though, for didactic reasons, these parts will be called core and themes throughout the section.

The core drives the boot process. It knows what must be done, and when things must be done, but it doesn't know how to do much. Themes have the knowhow. This way, you can think of a boot theme as a manner to do boot-related work.
