CoreApps is problematic because you make a distinction between user-installed apps and system-wide installed apps. I find it also less intuitive than the "all programs under one dir" approach of Gobo. But I would agree insofar that I think users should be able to freely change directory names, have things still work - and gobo would support it as well.
